Medical Micro-Dermabrasion

Medical micro-dermabrasion is a form of skin re-surfacing (or skin peeling) that is non-invasive and non-surgical. The procedure uses a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the younger, tighter and more radiant skin underneath. It is different from normal dermabrasion since it can only be applied by a qualified professional and the results from medical micro-dermabrasion can be much greater; as a result you may need fewer treatments.

Medical micro-dermabrasion may be ideally suitable for blackheads and congested skin, acne scars, acne prone skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin, uneven pigmentation and uneven skin texture. It is mainly used on the face and back although any part of your body can be treated .

The treatment is not uncomfortable, and essentially involves "sanding" the skin with small microscopic crystals made of aluminum oxide, similar to grains of sand on a beach. A special high-powered instrument passes the crystals over the surface of the skin and then removes them quickly to "buff" superficial skin irregularities. All you will feel is the movement of the crystals over your skin which creates a brushing sensation. Any visible signs of treatment are mild although some patients may have a slight redness, a few hours later which disappears overnight.

Medical micro-dermabrasion procedures are usually repeated at 1 to 2 week intervals with 6 to 8 sessions suggested for optimal results. The first effects are usually seen after just one session; your skin will feel softer and will look fresher in the few days following the treatment. At the end of the course you will notice a remarkable difference in the way your skin looks and feels.
